Any list of websites related to the fan site I have built for Misty and Kerri must necessarily begin with the very impressive and comprehensive website that the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) has put together for volleyball enthusiasts of every stripe, not just for beach volleyball.   It is clearly the best source of information -- and up-to-date pictures -- for international beach volleyball, and thus also the best source of information for the exciting international exploits of Misty May and Kerri Walsh over the last couple of years.  I'm sure they will continue their excellent work during the Olympic games as well.  Thank you FIVB!

This is where you will find the FIVB's always excellent and up-to-date results for Beach Volleyball during the Athens Olympics

The website for the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) is absolutely essential for following the national beach volleyball tour, again at several levels.  It is not as comprehensive as the FIVB site on the international scene, but nevertheless very helpful.  The website recently underwent a serious face lift.  It's now a much more aesthetically pleasing site, but I'm disappointed at how cumbersome it is for getting up-to-the-minute results.  The formerly sometimes raucous Forum has, mostly unfortunately, been replaced by a rather staid AVP Message Board.

The Beach Volleyball Database has an incredible wealth of information about Beach Volleyball, all of it conveniently searchable -- whether by team, by individual, by season, by tournaments, all-time records, rankings, tour news from both the FIVB and AVP, not to mention a great time-line of beach volleyball's history.  You name it, they have it.  As great examples, see the career summaries for both Misty and Kerri.  Great stuff!

The official Beach Volleyball pages of the 2004 Athens Olympics website.  I assume this will be the best place to go for up-to-the-minute updates for all Beach Volleyball action during the Olympics.

Golden Girls     A very aesthetically pleasing site put together -- as was this site -- right around the time that Misty and Kerri began their triumphal march toward the gold in Athens.  I have liberally borrowed some truly excellent videos, which are kindly available from this website.   Many thanks to Misty Flores, the site's creator.

Beach Volleyball Online

A relatively new but interesting and well-done website.  I would especially recommend the excellent interviews it features with Chris Marlowe, Albert Hannemann, and Dennis Wagner (who is the guy behind the excellent Beach Volleyball Database website).

"SANDS OF TIME" is a complete history of Men's and Women’s beach volleyball, including its roots that began with the indoor game.  According to the marketing blurb in the Beach Volleyball Database, it's the book that volleyball players and fans have been waiting for! This is the first book that has been devoted primarily to the history of BEACH VOLLEYBALL! There are 272 pages of beach volleyball stories and anecdotes, along with tournament results. The book includes nearly 500 photographs of the events, venues and players of BEACH VOLLEYBALL.  Read for example the following fascinating excerpt from Chapter 2 entitled SANTA MONICA CALIFORNIA 1900's.  Be sure also to check out VolleyballBooks.net, where you can purchase "SANDS OF TIME" and other books about beach volleyball online.

Shotfile was recently featured on the Beach Volleyball Database.  Shotfile was founded by Carl Schneider, the former photo editor of Volleyball Magazine (which explains the high number of volleyball shots here). Carl recognized an opportunity to provide a better way of showing his work. By entering all of the images in a searchable database and key-wording each image with the athlete's name, event name, and other important info, it is now possible for users to easily find the photos they are looking for.  Some great pix of Misty and Kerri are available.
