This is the Athens Olympics Beach Volleyball Home Page for the FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball), which is the international organization for Beach Volleyball.  Their results and stories are always up-to-the-minute, and they always have a lot of great pictures.

This is the official Olympic Rankings for Women for the 2004 Athens Olympics.  It is only through success on the FIVB  international circuit that beach volleyball professionals can win a spot in the Olympics.  As you can see, Misty and Kerri come into the Olympics comfortably ranked as the number one team in the world.
Sport, Sand and Sex: Olympic Beach Volleyball is the Newest Craze     Beach volleyball has become one of the most popular sports of the Olympic Games, and like it or not, it is most probably because the women wear bikinis and the men wear muscle-baring tank tops....  In an interview last week, USA beach volleyball gold medalist Kerri Walsh said, “If people think we’re sexy because we wear this, let them come out, think we’re sexy and enjoy that part of it, and then see that we’re also pretty dynamic athletes as well.”
Draws of beach's past time are sex, spike     “Beach volleyball has been the hit of this Olympics,” said U.S. gold medallist Kerri Walsh after she and partner Misty May won the first women’s gold for the United States following a perfect competition in which they did not lose a set.

It's On The Beach, So It's A Party      PIRAEUS, Greece - If he were alive today, maybe the founder of the modern Olympic Games, Barron Pierre de Coubertin, would be disgusted with what they've done to his idyllic vision of sports with the scene at beach volleyball.....  Or maybe, just like nearly every other guy at this 7,800- seat facility on scenic Faliro Bay, ol' Pierre would be dancing to K.C. & The Sunshine Band and ogling bikini-clad cheerleaders.
Why beach volleyball makes the sun shine for everyone but the British     It has been the surprise hit of this year's Olympics. While photographers covering the major sports have filed their forlorn images of vast banks of empty seating, there's one event that even in its earliest heats has drawn swarms of appreciative sports lovers: women's beach volleyball.
Olympic Beach Volleyball Preview     America's Team: Misty May and Holly McPeak will again represent the U.S. as they did in 2000, but not as partners. Long Beach State legend May has dominated the game the last year with Kerri Walsh, at least before her strained stomach muscle. Meanwhile, McPeak and Elaine Youngs have been playing great the last two months.... How we'll do: If May is at her pre-injury best, then it could be an all-American final. 
Misty May Makes It to Athens Games     Misty May never doubted she'd get healthy in time to join beach volleyball partner Kerri Walsh at the Olympics. She got sick of reading in newspapers that her strained abdominal muscle was going to keep her home and split the world's No. 1-ranked duo..... "Some comments that were being made got back to me and really infuriated me," May said Thursday. "You know your body. Other people don't."
May is rested and ready:  Now healthy, May/Walsh eye golden opportunity at the Athens Olympics     The news on Misty May is all bad... For the competition...  She hopped on a plane today headed for Athens, Greece, and the Olympic Games appointment she and Kerri Walsh made more than a year ago... The stomach muscle strain that knocked her out of a few tournaments in June and July has healed.
Beach volleyball top seeds face Olympic struggle after stunning run     "Misty May and Kerri Walsh enter the Olympic beach volleyball tournament as the world's top-ranked women's team, but their favored role at the Athens Games is far slimmer than it was two months ago."
Late-night starts for sunshine sport    A huge success on its debut in 1996, a photographers' delight on Bondi Beach four years later, beach volleyball will again steal more column inches in Athens than its place in the sporting firmament deserves.  In Sydney volleyball attracted the fifth largest television audience of the 28 summer sports, no doubt helped by the instruction that women's teams should wear bikinis.
May to stomach Athens    "Misty May now understands how Mark Twain felt when the renown American author, while touring Europe, heard that he had passed away.  Twain fired off a cable to the Associated Press saying reports of his demise had been exaggerated. As they are with May."
